If I get enough requests for putting the neoprene on the drumKAT, we can do it.  We are actually experimenting with a different material that is somewhere feeling in between the rubber vrs neoprene.    Will keep you posted

Good. I hope the material you finally decide upon, will also be more conducive to hand and finger playing.

The DITI is completely redesigned from the ground up.  ALL code is new with new fast processors, a/d converters, etc.
The software engineer on this project is the same from KAT.  He is using the THEORY behind the drumKAT/kiti and renewing it
on this platform.

The drumKAT is fossilized software.  The engineer for that project is long gone.  Sorry.  I am too.    But don't too long........ :P

Quite frankly, if needed, I wouldn't, necessarily, mind a simpler drumKat feature set.  With a PC as a sound source, most advanced drumKat functions can be attained.
For example, instead of the Kat's internal motifs, use the Kat to control Ableton Live.
But, you should keep the Kat MIDI Control Mode functions (stop, start, continue, re-sync, tap-tempo and clock control, etc.).

If your DITI board which holds 12 stereo inputs, is placed into a drumKat, whose FSRs would use
10 of the 24 available DITI input channels, that would leave 14 inputs, or 7 stereo trigger inputs
(instead of the present 9 mono inputs) in the DrumKat.   A fantastic upgrade.
You could also consider trimming down the drumKat hardware, if needed, such as having only
one midi in and midi out, and possibly eliminating the breath control input, etc.

I'd love to try a different material. Something a bit softer might make my late night practise sessions a bit quieter. An aluminium case would also be a nice option if it were possible.

We are experimenting with lots of different materials right now.  (the acousta feel pads on the malletKAT).
I ordered some new samples to experiment on drumKATs and trapKATs.

I'll keep everyone posted when one of these materials makes me smile

We are hopeful that we will begin shipping by the end of Spring (yes, this year!)  I know, I know, I'm hopefully NOT dreaming.
Are you still hopeful about the 'end of Spring' thing, Mario? Um, and the year?   :D
The daffodils are a-bloomin' out here in Hong Kong, and I just might need a DITI for my dittys ...

Did I really say Spring?  I did didn't I?

Well... I decided that the DITI should have the same functions as the trapKAT 4.0 so now we are planning on
putting alternate notes, velocity shifts and multis per input.  It will work the same way as well.   Just call up
the "curve" that turns on the function.

There is also a special thing that we thought of that's really going to turn some heads.  I don't want to spill it until
the DITI is ready.

Sorry for the delay folks.  I really want this thing to rock!!!!!

Sounds good.  I hope it will also have an up-datable EPROM like the other Kat products.

We should have the pedals in about 8 weeks.  All of the components
are in production.

We have ordered new playing materials and are experimenting
with alternative feels

it's simply agonizing how long everything takes.

Good news is that we move closer and closer every
day

Mario, a question. With this new pedal, will our TrapKATs require the resistor 'tweak' that you mentioned, to account for the bigger dynamic range of the post-DrumTech pedals? (http://alternatemode.com/forum/index.php?topic=2314.0)
Or will this new pedal respond along the same lines as the DrumTech pedals did?
