Proprietary power supplies gripe
« on: October 09, 2012, 10:22:23 AM »
The Casio Privia has a plug configuration that cannot be matched by anything in the aftermarket. The Boss DR770 with its 14VDC power supply was followed by the DR770 with a generic 9VDC supply so maybe they responded to complaints. Any suggestions from power supply dependent musicians in how to be effective at making our voices heard by the various electronic gear manufacturers?

In my setup I use a mix of Roland SPD6, Roland TD8, TrapKat and sometimes a  dk10 and MIDIkiti.
That's a whole bunch of transformers to try and get into a plug strip. I've often thought it would be nice to have just one power supply to handle all of these things.
I think that might be a good winter project to try and build something like that. My thought is to supply several dc voltages and perhaps even ac.
Have to see where that goes. If I have any kind of success I'll post it here.
