African marimba
« on: July 27, 2015, 10:42:43 AM »
I would like to know if anyone knows a method to get the sound of any type of African marimba or xylophone. I'm using a MKat KS 4-octave. I know about all of the traditional marimba sounds on the MK. But I'm looking for something which has the sound more like an African marimba or xylophone.

Thanks in advance..
-Roger

You could try something like the balafon from Native Instruments West Africa library.

here's another thought (a year later) about a good source for these samples:

Hi there,

the Handheldsound is really great. Another (and right now, one of my favourites) is soniccoutureĀ“s marimba.
ItĀ“s so versatile because you can tweak a lot of parameters.
Have a look ;)

Greetings,
Tom

I use Native Instruments West Africa Percussion Library with the malletKAT.

Here's a video I did years ago.
