How do I hook up my hatKAT to the drumKAT?
Using the hatKAT as a hi hat with the drumKAT 3.0

  1. Connect the CTRL out of the CTRL to the hatKAT/FK1 input. (In HATNTE mode, the pedal will allow you to select between the 8 different note numbers that you can assign; In HATGTE mode, the duration of the note number assigned is lengthened or shortened depending on the position of the pedal)
  2. Connect the TRIG Out of the hatKAT to a trigger input on the drumKAT (This will give you a velocity-sensitive foot closed sound)
  3. FTSW out of hatKAT not used.

Using the hatKAT as a hi hat with the drumKAT.

  1. Connect the FTSW out of the hatKAT into footswitch 3 of the drumKAT. (This will allow the "normal" hi hat operation with a better feeling pedal)
  2. TRIG out of the hatKAT not used.
  3. CTRL: out of the hatKAT not used.

OR

  1. Connect the TRIG out of the hatKAT into a trigger input of the drumKAT. Assign this trigger to SIMPL mode and assign the note number to match the foot sound in your sound source. On the pad you have assigned to hi hat, turn off the HFOOT sound. (This will give you a velocity sensitive foot sound with your "normal" hi hat set-up)
  2. Connect the FTSW out of the MOT into footswitch 3 of the drumKAT.
  3. CTRL out of the hatKAT not used.
