Justin “Justefan” Thomas is an American vibraphonist, composer, producer, and singer from Baltimore, Maryland. This world-renowned musician rose to prominence in Chicago, playing genres from jazz to hip-hop, R&B and pop. As quoted from the New York Times, Justin Thomas “…is a mallet virtuoso with a spillover of ideas and an appealingly liquid phraseology.”
Justefan has shared stages all around the world with greats such as Lionel Hampton, Hank Jones, Cyrus Chestnut, Max Roach, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Jazz Orchestra, Theaster Gates, Bill T. Jones, The Ludwig & Stiegler Co., Dana Hall, Rodney Whitaker, Charles Heath IV, Maggie Brown, Hamiet Bluiett, Corey Wilkes, Dee Alexander, Ernest Dawkins, Ryan Cohan, Kahil El. Zabar, Marquis Hill, and Milton Suggs. He has been a special guest performer for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Chicago International Orchestra, and Chicago Jazz Orchestra. He has been featured with Ludwig & Stiegler Co. on both MTV and VH1 for their performance at the Austin City Limits Festival and has played piano in seasons 1 and 2 of FOX TV’s “Empire.” He has been featured on a myriad of albums, most recently on Ludracris’ “Ludaversal.”
Justefan is also a solo artist, having released several albums under his own name: The Juste EP, The Prelude, and his most recent, “Vibed Out Remixes”, which released April 22, 2015.
